I'm not feeling it yet, but I'm sure we all will eventually. The uni holidays are just too long. Why not reduce the summer holiday length a bit and extend the middle one?

Feeling particularly unproductive, I was "stumbling" (using a wonderful little firefox/IE plugin called "stumbleupon" which helps waste your time just that little bit more efficiently), and a few links later came across this little essay. Read on, fellow.. well... readers...

On the Implausibility of the Death Star's Trash Compactor.

Suddenly the time wasted during the holidays with cleaning, socialisaing and stumbling is actually quite productive in comparison to the time taken to write this... ;)

Indeed, the end of year break is too long, for those not going away for any significant amount of time, such as moi.

skitled ur kidding rihstght?

how could u wanna have shorter holidays and go back to stinkin uni

i left uni saying seeeeeeeeeeee ya laaaaaaaaaaaater stinktown!

with uni on i could only be free to do nothing 90% of the time.

but now with uni out of the picture.......im free t o do nothing 100% of the time.

i'm at my full nothing-ness capability here!

maximum capacity.

my goals for this summer, learn the banjo..........buy a rocking chair...............find those long grass things that grow in my lawn and chew it.............then sit outside on my front patio in nothing but my underpants singing songs of the south!

i need all of the holidaaays to fulfil this dream!!WSa

I agree with steve.

I think uni should start early to mid feb, with a week or two being put in breaks -- maybe even stick a week between the end of term and the beginning of exams?

I for one think a week between term and exams would benefit not only the students, who will write better papers, but for the conveners who have to read those papers.

ROFL!

I'm pathetically laughing out loud in my chair... I'm sure my family thinks I'm nuts! Oh wait... they already do! No harm done! :D

But some sort of Stuvac/ a bigger in-between-semesters holiday might be nice.

Now that summer has well and truly hit I know the answer to this one:

BECAUSE IT'S TOO FRICKIN' HOT IN SUMMER TO LEARN ANYTHING!

'nuff said. :)
