im only in year 11 now and have just started... the teacher in my ext eng class explained how in ext 2 english we are able to choose a medium and spend our entire yr unconstricted to conventional class work.

1. what are the mediums and what is required?
2. how long is a short story?
3. what does it mean by poetry? any poetry?

Your teacher should have a Board of Studies booklet/printout with an explanation of all the mediums to give you. I know I got one a few weeks before the end of year 11, to help me decide whether to do EE2 or not.

I'd advise you ask your teacher these questions as she'll have the specific, official, information to give you. Also, you don't have to decide on EE2 for another three terms or so, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It isn't really a concern as of yet but if you wish to know, the board of studies syllabus pretty much says it all.

can't remember which said the specifications though but mediums include short story, critical response, poetry, speeches and multimedia which branch out into a few categories.
short story length is 6000-8000 words
and I don't know about the poetry...
