this is my assessment task notification: Students will be required to write a critical response on the prescribed texts – Conrad, Heart of Darkness and F.F. Coppola, ‘Apocalypse Now’. Students will be assessed on their ability to evaluate Heart of Darkness and its transformation, ‘Apocalypse Now’, assessing notions of cultural and artistic values.

I NEED TO INTEGRATE CRITICAL RESPONESES INTO MY WORK

in terms of heart of darkness and apocalpyse now.. i was thinking to do a comparison on how they both portray how in heart of darjekness conrad presents imperialism as fundementally nilistic, driven by an obsession with ivory which is an innanimate object that is hollow as the ideals that justify its pursuit. while in apocaloyse now, and coppolla presents war as nilistic as well

BUTTT i wasnt sure what coppola uses to portary that I also have a few other ideas and concepts that i need help with.

- the quote : "cutting them in half with a gun and giving them a abandaid" shows the soldiers compensationg the vietnamese for blood shed and human life and how they give minimalassistance, the bandaid is futile bc the bandadid is so ineefective at covering up. everything than happens is never goig to be fixed / heal which adds to the pointlessness of wat. -

- CARL JUNG theory OF THE OTHER - MY TEACHER LOVES THIS ONE

- bridge in apocalpys enow s a never ending cycle of war- showin how it is irratioal the bridge is meaningless and nihilistiv as whats the point to trying to bridge the gao betweenn 2 sides that keeps gettind destroyed.

-"dropped acid" and lsd. meaning that war cannot be percieved from a civillians perspective and only soliders thats why the soldier find the scenc eof carnival getting bombed beautfyl and the chief captiain guy when the helicopters were descending is only inteested in the waves.

- The THEATRE OF WAR- HOW WAR IS KIND OF LIKE A PERFORMATICE ACT THAT HAS NO PUPOSE- MAYBE ENTERTAINMENT? ADDINF TO NILISM. BC IN APOCALPSE NOW WILLARD PUTS MUD ON HIS FACE BEFORE KILLING KURTZ AND THEN WILLARD WEARING ARMY COSTUME

basically, i was trying to sy how conrad and coppola conveys nihilism but conrad does this by highlighting the nilistic values imperialism carries and how he uses the symbol of ivory



on the other hand coppola shows the pointlessness of war and highlights it as a hollow spectacle with no purppse - highlighted through the scenes of ride of the valkryies, the collapse, and cleans death

but the key points my teacher said was to
-talk about conrad and coppolas attitudes towards _____
-and to look at the year 11 syllabus
-she said it was going to be an "EVALUATIVE' critical response - which means integrating your opinion throughout (?)
- and to not do a thematic view and to look at existentialist view (?)

but i have alot of scenes, quotes and ideas like the carl jung theory that i need to incorporate but wasnt sure how bc when weiting an essay you cant just state evidence, you have to analyse it as well.. and i also have to integrate CRITICAL RESPONSES



i know this was alot but i just wasnt sure how to approach this whole thing interms of studying and for my actual assessment as well. please help

it's alright, however i don't know these texts at all. to get some help from someone who's good at english, would be nice to fix the many spelling errors (?) and, for your questions, list them clearly.
structure ur post so that people can see exactly what you are asking, and for your ideas/concepts you mentioned, stuff like "BC IN APOCALPSE NOW WILLARD PUTS MUD ON HIS FACE BEFORE KILLING KURTZ AND THEN WILLARD WEARING ARMY COSTUME" really doesn't help anyone who's got no context.

hahah there was only spelling errors because i was typing really fast
in about one week- 9th of april

it's just when they see this, they see a massive block of text and jumbled questions. it's not easy to help this much just for fun


i'd recommend deleting the other two (3?) , esp. the one under module A, and choose one to refine and fix. then, you can just reply to the thread and it'll automatically be put to the top of the homepage for unread posts.
