I don't think FLR was talking about assessment marks, but rather exam marks - in isolation.
FLR was wondering if, the mark that he had received in the exam had been "raw" (e.g. 90% in English corresponding to 94.5/105, or 95/105 rounded up).
It has been fiddled with, so it's not your raw exam mark, it's only there to look good (and of course, to make you seem smarter than you really are).
