Does anyone know where to get info about the recycling of aluminum... i have to do a powerpoint presentation for my assessment based on the extraction and recycling of metals. I have some info in my textbooks but i don't want to rely on it too heavily because i just know everyone will jsut steal slabs of info from it. i've tried the aluminum association but only got some "fun facts", a bar graph and one paragraph of info. Can't contact them either cause dere based in Aus. and dey don't have an email address where i can make inquires... so does any oneone happen to have info on the recycling of aluminum? Need information to answer these dotpoints

1.Recount the steps taken in the recycling of aluminum

2.Compare the energy outlay involved in the extraction of aluminum from bauxite and the recycling of aluminum.

3. Account for the fact that aluminum smelters are usually located near hydroelectricity or power stations

4. Justify the high rate of recycling of aluminum compared to other metals such as iron and steel.

5. Assess the validity of the statement: 'The recycling of aluminum is beneficial to the environment'.

6. Explain why there is much more emphasis on recycling aluminium than on recycling steel.

P.S: I checked the library... no good books regarding this topics.. all in junior section of library that gave me 1 para. about recycling in size 400000 font :(

  • Recycling also provides employment
I don't think the above point is necessarily true. Mining employs more people as it is more difficult & expensive to extra aluminium from it ore. More mining of aluminium = more employment.

Why would you learn something about that in Year 7? All I remember learning were things like beaker and conical flask and stuff like that. :)
