Sooo I've got this ipad
annnd i want to use the laptop wifi on me ipad at school.
well, it connects, and the wifi "fan" sign comes up at full strength. However when i tried to open a webpage, it won't load at all.

this is a very general description because i have no idea what else to say :p
I think it could be some kind of protocol or IP problem bt i'm not sure.

thanks for your help:smile:

They've probably set the network up to only permit access to recognised devices (i.e. MAC addresses).

I have a couple of friends that use their ipads at school, (as well as our science HT) and i know that if you're trying to connect to the DET network that has been built, you need to connect to the school network, not nswdet, and tap the "manual tab" and type in an ip address and such. I cant help you more than that, hopefully someone else does, but i do know the port number is 8080

All DET school routers run on 5Ghz and aren't necessarily hidden. Going onto the Internet from a non DET device is another matter.

P.S ( most devices only run on 2.4 Ghz)

I used to use the school internet on my tablet - if you can see the network and connect, you need to do something else to be able to get to the internet.

That something else is connecting to the school's proxy server which is usually:

Proxy: proxy.det.nsw.edu.au
Port: 8080
