i dont understand something i read on the production of PHA
the part in bold is the bit i dont understand, can someone explain it to me please?
...until now, microbial PHA production is achieved by coordinated fermentation of natural PHA-producing bacteria (1st generation)
and by gene dosage effects of PHA biosynthesis genes such as the PHA synthase gene (phaC) in recombinants (2nd generation)
and then the article goes on about 3rd generation production of PHA "enzyme evolution" if possible could someone explain that to me too please
