Hi, currently we are undertaking our trials and for personal reasons I submitted an appeal for an exam but still sat it. I was ranked second before this exam and so i have two questions.
1) if i get a mark lower than the second highest mark do i loose my ranking or do they take into account my rank and appeal before the exam and i keep my second rank
2) the teacher said they will massage my mark , what does that mean

Are you incapable of asking your teacher a question... This is how the conversation should have gone

Teacher: We will massage your mark
You: Sorry, but could you please explain what that means

And then you would have gotten an answer straight away rather than having to ask people online about it...

if you dont have an adequate contribution to make dont answer the post. Btw i did ask what that means and he said we will massage it and said he cannot discuss it further with me so your point is invalid, next time dont make accusations without asking. Anyone else can help me rather than attempting to put down others to make themselves feel better.

Whether you move ranks would depend on how good or bad your mark was. If the ranks were close together, and everyone else scored well and you did really badly, then you would probably drop a few ranks. If you came third in the trial for example, then it would depend on whether the cumulative marks put the person behind you ahead or not. . I can't say without knowing the marks.

Massage in this context probably means an adjustment based on extenuating factors, your mark, and the mark of everyone else.
