ok... there is a type of filter we used in the lab but i cant remember what it was called.
It accelerated the filter process with the use of this water pump --> as water (connected via tap) passed through, pressure was reduced in the flask connected to the system. The filter was on top of this flask, and liquid was sucked through more rapidly. Sorry i know i sound very nooby but its completely slipped my mind the name.

Basically it has a name and ive forgotten. Help would be great if you can remember or understand what im talking about thanks :)

It's called a sintered glass funnel.

I'd recommend you not write about this method in an exam though, and just say you used filter paper. This way it gives you more to discuss and criticise, in terms of validity, and the sintered glass funnel could be a suggestion to improve the validity.
