A block of mass 3.00kg is being pushed across a rough surface with a velocity of 5.0 ms-1

When the pushing force is removed the block comes to rest in a distance of 3.0 m.

Calculate the coefficient of friction between the block and the rough surface.

er, when the pushing force is remved, the only force acting on the mass is the kinetic friction: since v2=u2+2as
0=5.02+2a*3.0
a=-25/6 ms-2
:. f=ma=3*25/6=12.5N in opp drn of the motion of the mass
Since f=u k*n where n is the normal force
:.u k=12.5/(3*9.8)=0.42517 :rolleyes:

Not only is this is a double post, it isn't even within the realms of HSC Physics, if you want to ask friction questions try the Engineering Studies forum. It will get answered, don't let it's comatose state misguide you.
