I guess attenting a Go8 uni becomes more relevant if we pursue higher degrees (by research) - the quality of your postgrad degree would be directly affected by the uni's research capabilities in your field. For undergrads, its more about teaching quality

Hmmm, this is all I got so far, to get into what they actually do, we would have to go into the ivy league website, like in go8.

Elitism sucks. It generally depends on the type of degree you are doing. Does USYD's IT department generally mean it's better than UTS's just because USYD is in Go8 ? Not really.

The College of Rhode Island isn't part of the league. You have 9 instead of 8 unis there. And there is another purpose beside 'prestige' and 'elitism' for the formation of the ivy league: originally, these 8 univesities played FOOTBALL against each other. So yes. The ivy league is really a football league. So much for prestige, hey?

I don't know how you can compare any Australian University to the top 8 ivy leagues.
