Griffith Accelerated Honours Biomed (1 Viewer)

There is a new program at Griffith called:
Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) Accelerated

Griffith University | Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) Accelerated - Gold Coast

It looks like a good program, but I'm not sure about applying to a new program. Any advice (this will probably be my second preference to medicine)?

To be honst, most of the Biomedical/Medical Science programs teach you similar contents. You get exposure to areas such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology etc.

The difference comes down to whether you will be doing Honours (lab-based real research, 1 additional year - no you cannot short cut the Honours year..) or not. Without the Honours year it is very difficult to obtain a job. Completion of the Honours year also qualifies you to do a PhD.

In relation to the new course, I often don't think it would be a good idea to go in as the first cohort. This is because the teaching staff haven't had the experience to run the course smoothly (on the basis that there will be new subjects within the degree). Good courses are often that way because past students make suggestions at the end of session compulsory Evaluation form in regards to all aspects of the course, including the lab work, lecturers, tutorial contents, and the course coordinators make changes year after year based on these feedback.
