Just wondering what you can tell me about graphics calculators.

eg. What are they essentially used for?
how much do they cost?
are they worth the money?

and if the answer is yes to Q3, what are the best brands?

Thanks

My question is, why would you want one in the first place?

unless you're doing general maths next year i suggest you dont get one. they're stupid, around $200, and you don't REALLY need it to do the course.

i've had mine since beginningof year 11, i dont ever use it and its run out of batteries. piece of shit for $200.

I use mine for checking the shape of curves, but curve sketching is only in 2 unit level and above. I would think the graphics calculators are supposed to be used in general maths for stats?

They are not allowed in the 2, 3 or 4 unit maths courses for the HSC. Your calculator also has to be board approved, you can check the list from the main site.
