If f(x) = (x-1)(x-3) then sketch lyl = f(x).

I don't know whether the graph looks like y = l f(x) l

Don't you just 'get rid' of everything below the x-axis and then reflect the rest of the graph in the x-axis.

y=abs(f(x)): consists of the part of f(x) above the x-axis and the part below the x-axis reflected in the x-axis

abs(y)=f(x): consists of the part of f(x) above the x axis and its reflection in the x-axis(we only reflect the part of f(x) that is above the x axis)

yes so the procedure for doing |y| = f(x) is to draw y = f(x), then discard everything below the x-axis, and finally reflect everything above the x-axis about the x-axis. (reiterating what others have said)

lol mate, this is so easy. But i think lyl=f(x) isnt in the syllabus. I guess are you from cabra HS?
