Can someone please explain to me my assessment in layman's terms, much appreciated!!

Task 1. Representation
How can the values in two of the texts you have studied, "Frankenstein" and "Blade Runner", be compared and contrasted?
In your answer you should consider:
-Social context
-Cultural context
-Historical context
-Personal context

Mainly i just need to grasp an understanding of the values I need to talk about in the different categories. Any help would be great!

Frankenstein first studies science and gets so deeply inthralled into it, he decides to play around with nature and science. Similarly with BR tyrell creates replicants with science and technology (like frankenstein created the monster) which is an act of hubris (basically acting like god) and it shows that doesnt turn out good as both Tyrell and Frankenstein face the consequences.

Context:
For Frankenstein, Shelley was describing the enlightenment period which was when science was a big revolution.
In BR, I dont really remember but i think it was when medicine and technology was a big thing at the time.

do your own research from there :)

The values you could discuss could be humanity, progress/ambition, duty, power/knowledge, depending on what you feel you can talk most about. In terms of bringing in the social, cultural, historical, personal context discussion, you should be comparing/contrasting the values represented/explored in the texts and attributing that contrast and representation to the different contextual frameworks (because remember texts are created by their contexts).

For example, the value of humanity is commonly explored in both F and BR. These are shaped by their different social, cultural etc contexts including the perceived threats of dehumanisation brought about by the Industrial Revolution and the rapid technological changes in the 1980s (robotics, genetics etc).
For a contrasting value, you could discuss the value of progress. In both texts, progress is valued, by the notion of progress differs. In F, progress is driven by Victor's ambition and pursuit of knowledge (Age of Enlightenment link). In BR, progress is framed by greed and the pursuit of wealth (capitalism, commercialism).
