Is it too hard to do both of these in the same semester? I would rather do this than Micro 2 as I want to pair that with Macro 2 in Semester 1 Year 2.

Is FINS1613 supposed to be done after 1612?

No you can do whichever first or both at the same time. 1613 is more calculative and 1612 is more qualitative.

1613 is interesting, problem solving oriented and pretty well assessed (with Rob in S1 anyway even though the final was tough)
1612 is 'qualitative' (that means get ready to memorise lots of words), boring, assessed stupidly ('here are 6 statements: A) 1 is correct and 5 are incorrect, B) 2 are correct and 4 are incorrect' etc) and the lecturers and tutors just reproduce the same stuff every semester. Final was doable though.

1612 is the reason I am considering other majors now. Do on exchange, get a twin to do it for you but avoid at all costs. If you are a non-finance major who wants more courses, I suspect 2624 is better and more useful (haven't done it though).

2624 is a killer if you aren't into quant/stats! I actually enjoyed 1612 as it provided a lot of background and basics into finance. It's a nice "friendly" introduction to the major in my opinion.
