i failed Engineering Computing in Semester 1 2014. I got 45.
What happens.. because I don't know if I have to repeat it or is it not-compulsory to be repeated??

If it is part of your degree, just take it again the next time it is offered. I did the same thing with PHYS, I failed semester 1 now I am doing it again

Yup, you will need to repeat engineering computing, it's a compulsory subject. Pretty much every 1st year engineering subject you need to pass to get an engineering degree.

Just a question. If you fail and repeat a unit, will both attempts be used in the calculation of your gpa?

Read Clause 1.1(e) of http://sydney.edu.au/handbooks/engineering/rules/faculty_resolutions.shtml

"A student shall enrol in lower year level core units of study as a priority above any higher year level units of study irrespective of meeting any prerequisite requirements of the higher year units."
