Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone could give me some insight with my Chem assignment.
Have a couple dot points I'm not really sure how to differentiate and what to discuss....

• Process information from secondary sources to summarise the use of ethanol, as an alternative car fuel, evaluating the success of the current usage

• Asses the potential of ethanol as an alternative fuel and discuss the advantages and disadvantages

I'm just confused because both dot point seem to ask about ethanol as a biofuel and both seem to ask for the advantages and disadvantages.
If anyone could help out on how I should go about it, that would be great

If I remember correctly, back when I did it my chemistry teacher gave the class some newspaper articles about using ethanol as a bio-fuel. That was not long after the time when they have started adding ethanol to petrol. Two things you could do - look things up on SMH, also just look around service stations.

• Asses the potential of ethanol as an alternative fuel and discuss the advantages and disadvantages

Hmm, have you tried your textbook for this one? One could conceivably keep rambling on forever on this. Anyhow, hints for this one - consider how it is produce and what would happen should ethanol be used to replace petrol (that is, you need to consider the mass production of ethanol); environmental impacts; engine modification... etc.

you can do both dot points together, just talk about the current success in relation to ethanols positive attributes and its negative attributes, talk about its use in brazil compared to other countries like australia/usa

we got a similar assignment haha, i just went on wiki and read about the use of ethanol as a fuel in diff countries then related them to its properties/economic considerations in fermentation/distillation
