hey, in the industrial chem topic we are doing this prac to show H2SO4 as an oxidant and i need the equation for our prac report and our teacher wont tell us anything about it. I know that it has the rotten egg gas, which i think is H2S and also produces water and K2SO4 and I2 but i cant seem to balance it!!! any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. this is what i have so far
KI + H2SO4 ---> I2 + H2S + K2SO4 + H2O
please please please somebody help

The sulfate ion is a non oxidising ion.

The equation should be:
H2SO4 + 2KI --> K2SO4 + 2HI

Overall:
8KI(s) + 5H2SO4(aq)--> H2S(g) + 4H2O(l) + 4K2SO4 + 4I2(S) Exothermic

Sufuric Acid oxidies Iodide Ion:
2I-(aq) --> I2(s) + 2e-
