I can remember a 1600 word essay in about 4 hours, near word for word. However I can barely finish writing it in 45 mins.

Yeah this method is extremely effective however my hands will hurt after writing it once. :(

I usually aim to finish a 1000 word essay a week before the assessment task and then memorise one paragraph a day. And yes, writing it out with a timer ten times is the most effective method.

Memorised by writing twice by hand and listening to it on the train on the way in that morning. I spent a lot more time memorising my HSC ones, though, just to be on the safe side lol.

So maybe three hours for in class assessments, not including the time it took to write the essay itself?

Yep four hours without writing the essay itself. :p

Took me ages to memorise my inclass essay. Handwrote it like 3 times but still had trouble.

But eventually, by the time it came about, I ended up writing my original essay word for word and got 14/15, dragging my rank up from 60/160 to around 25/160 :party::party::party::party::party::skip::skip::skip::skip:

I can remember approx. a 1500 word essay, word for word in 1 day.
But hey, then again i dont play the memorize-it game. I usually try and memorize it to some extent and then more importantly i understand and know it, as in what its actually about, cause this is quite useful when you suddenly drop dead from nervousness in the exam and forget everything that was memorized.

Hope that helps

I don't memorise essays per se, but I memorise the points I want to make and key quotes. imo memorising a whole essay limits your scope in an exam environment

A 1500 word essay takes me about 6 hours to memorise, word-for-word. So for a 500/600 word essay seems normal :)
