I have an assignment that requires me to find

dangers of electric shock from both a 240 volt AC mains supply and various DC<o></o>[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]voltages, from appliances, on the muscles of the body

[FONT=&quot]I am not lazy... But i have searched the net for a while and not found 2 sites that match information. Then i thought why not finally try boredofstudies[/FONT][FONT=&quot]

240V is pretty high use V=IR you notice that if resistance is any lower, current can fry a person alive

... but the most dangerous thing about AC is the frequency it is at... i really can't recall the frequency but i THINK it is 80Hz. It just so happens that it is the freqency at which human brain send signals through central nerve system... so upon electrical accidents, you often find victim unable to move, because the AC passing through his/her body is interfering with the signal sent my central nerve system...

also interestingly, muscle on the back of the palm is stornger than inside of the palm. when AC passes through, muscle on the outside attempts to close the palm whilst muscle inside attempts to open the palm... so the plam will shut... which is an other reason why it is extremely dangerous if you actually clutch on to an open, live wire...

DC at high voltage can be equally deadly... but it's DC, so it doesn't have any freqency thing...

These are the effects of AC current on a person (when the surface of their skin is dry), they are approximate currents.

10mA - Just felt
20mA - Quite a shock
30mA - Cannot let go
50mA - Severe burns
100mA - Irregular heartbeat / heart fibrillation
200mA - Death

You can acknowledge that the household 240V 10A currents will pretty much kill upon contact.

one correction though, it really depends on where is the wire contacting you and how is it grounded/completed circuit... if the wire incidentally hits one's knee, then grounded, worst you get is an amputated leg, not death...

electricution is only vital if the electricity passes through the heart.
