I Just received a terrible mark for my first economics essay task...

According to my mark, and my teacher my informations were good, but it's mostly the structure which dragged my marks down majorly..

Please..!! Can anyone tell me how I can structure my essay?

QUESTION: Analyse impacts of globalisation on an economy other than Australia, Evaluate the strategies that this economy is using to promote economic growth and development..

I believe he is asking for someone to tell him how to correctly structure an essay.

Did your teacher provide any specific details about where improvements should be made?

-body.
-conclusion.

I did this essay

"Analyse impacts of globalisation on an economy other than Australia, Evaluate the strategies that this economy is using to promote economic growth and development.. "


and also an in class essay which looked at the

"Analyse impacts of globalisation on an economy other than Australia; analyse the policies implimented by a country other than australia to maintain the effects of globalisation"

Now in my opinion the best way to do an economics essay = having a clear, strong, logical introduction

If your intro is logical and flows well; the rest of your essay will spur from that (ie. Expand the points you have outlined)

For your essay in the intro, I:

1.Defined Globalisation

2.Provide some historical context (e.g China has transisted from its once communist "planned economy" to a more liberated socialist market economy)

3. Outline the strategies that were implimented that helped the country do this

4.Outline the impacts of globalisation as a result of moving to a free market economy (China: increase trade flows, improvement in quality of life, robust economic growth etc)

5. Conclude your essay, by wrapping up your points in 1-2 sentences.


I honestly believe that if your intro is top, your whole essay will flow

I got 20/20 for this essay and 19/20 for the other one,

umm.... economics essays r very simple

nail down the stastics, and technical jargon and you are sweet

as it is always said quality not quantity... each essay i have wrote has never gone over 10 pages.... in 45 minutes and i have scored very well

bragging.... standards are different from school to school

When you doing the HSC..... if it is 08 i would get cracking..... what was your mark by the way???????

i think everyone who did ecos did a essay on that question. So...steps in organising ur essay
Assuming its a take-home essay

1) Before you start writing, write down/brainstorm all your ideas.
2) Then classify them into different categories (such as trade FDIs..etc)
3) Then for each ideas find an example to support your idea.
4) Write slowly....
5) Avoid copying parts of other essays because it doesnt FLOW
6) DONT go off topic under a specific headings

and Remeber, dont be afraid to add some flair/metaphors in your essay. It's much more interesting to add some metaphors of flair to make your essay abit more readable (if you cant do it, just stick to the above steps)

just pound down what comes to your head. and write as much as possible.

Maybe you'll do better if you spell economics right.

10 pages? Wow. I never wrote more than 4 and my lowest mark ever was 18/20. Definitely quality over quantity.
