Double degrees at UNSW (1 Viewer)

I am considering doing a double degree at UNSW, and have a few questions I'd like to ask:

Firstly, what determines the UAI cutoff? For example, if I wanted to do Eng/Sci, I'd have to get a UAI high enough to get into both Engineering and Science separately right? Is the UAI cutoff for the double degree the highest cutoff of the two subjects? (Not sure if I'm making myself clear here)

I was looking in the UAC guide and noticed that when you apply for double degrees with engineering, you can't actually choose the engineering major when you apply (eg. there is no unique UAC course code for Eng (Civil)/Sci, just one for Eng/Sci).
Does this mean that once you get accepted you would choose Civil?

UAI cut offs are determined by popularity. There are separate cut offs for combined degrees. ie, the cut off for B Eng and/or B Sci might be different to Eng/Sci.

Yes. Specialisations are chosen after you enrol.

Well, people who have done two degrees separately would be more "knowledgable" because two degrees takes at least 2-3 years longer to complete. This is due to the fact that you take more units than a double degree person (Double degree takes some units off from both degrees to fit into a 4 year time frame). If you understand what I meant.

actually.. it's how well you can talk/communicate + ofcourse you will need to know what you're doing

I don't know if that's entirely true. Some engineering degrees have a higher uai cut off, like computer engineering for example has a higher cut off mark than civil or mining. So if you were to take the double degree, make sure if you were wanting to do the computer eng/sci degree there may be a different course code rather than the stardard eng/sci code

yeah like with the eng/comm theres one for comm/seng and another for other eng/comm
