G’day fellow BoSers

as the title suggests, is it worth doing math questions ahead of time from the class textbook of the teacher is eventually going to just assign us do those exercises? Would it be better to buy a separate book to self study and do the class textbook up to the normal speed?
Thanks in advance!
If it helps I’m using the Cambridge preliminary extension 1 textbook for class and was considering getting the Fitzpatrick one on the side.

Nothing bad comes out of getting ahead in any of your classes. In fact, it might give you extra time during class to discuss questions personally with your teacher or to ask for clarification about a topic.
I agree. It's usually easier to read the examples and explanations ahead of time so you have an idea of the topic before the lessons.
