hi everyone! I'm in year 11, and these are the subjects im doing:

- maths standard 2
- english adv
- english ext 1
- bio
- chem
- CAFS
- Business Studies

I am heavily leaning towards picking up ext 2 english, and I would be DEFINITELY dropping Business Studies as I'm not exactly loving it. I was recommended to do Science Extension (also my school got 3 state ranks, so hopefully that applies to my cohort lol), and if I do pick up ext 2 english as well as science extension, then I will drop another subject. I'm unsure whether to drop CAFS or not, because I love my class and teacher, and I'm topping it, but I don't know if I would like to continue learning that content in year 12. So my lineup next year would be like this:

- maths standard 2
- english adv
- english ext 1
- POSSIBLY english ext 2
- POSSIBLY science ext
- bio
- chem
- CAFS??
- business studies

I also don't know how many units to do, 10, 11 or 12? 13 is a bit much but I would love some advice x

I think if you pick up both ee2 and sci ext, you should maybe do a term with CAFs and then drop it after, if you find that it doesn't match your interest/too many stuff you need to do for your heavier subjects. If you don't drop CAFs after one term, maybe you'll consider dropping something else? (In consideration that you would have 2 sciences + ext and lot of eng to prepare for)

It's okay not to know how many units to do. I asked a couple of my classmates (Yr 12) recently, most of them are stuck on 10 units now (which isn't necessary a bad thing, but I think a lot of the ppl I've talked to they have 1-2 subjects counted that they are not happy with bc Yr 11 was very different to Yr 12 for them or they dropped something they thought they would hate more), very few are on +12 units. A lot of people taking ext subjs are on 10-11 units. I don't know how you perform in your subjects but assuming that you do really well in them, being on 13 units will be quite a bit. And remember that those extra 3 units won't counted later on, only the best 10 units!

So, try to really figure out, after adjusting to the jump from yr 11 to yr 12 (there is a big jump for some subjects imo🥲) and gradually drop down a few so that you're around 10, 11, 12, whatever seems more manageable to you, how confident you are and what you're pursuing in the future.

I think just wait it out and see. Cause things can change drastically and the subjects I hated and did worst in year 11 actually became my best and fav so it really depends and just see at the end of year 11
