Different state exams..
some have topics not done in NSW like statics (VIC) and matricies (SA)
just to diversify the type of questions u might want to do

ME2 = specialist math (VIC) = math studies (SA)

not statistics..
yer the guy who topped SA in maths is a mate of mine.. he saw the NSW ME2 paper and shitted himself.. cos they use graphical calculators..

And I don't really see why we can't use graphic calculators.

Like, I mean, seriously, as if ANY part of the mathematics we learn in year 11/12 is gonna be of use to us in future life. (apart from those who will do careers in maths, which is like 0.01% of us).

So why NOT use graphics calculators? I mean, graphing x^3 isn't gonna help me win bread, hey?

But it makes us better at understanding functions and how they should "look" on paper. Our ability to do that without graphics calculators is the most important thing.

Grey Council, don't prejudge what parts of maths you will need later on. I did not expect to need to graph and do calculus on trig functions, nor solve SHM problems in 2nd year Uni chemistry, but I did.

I concur completely with KeypadSDM - using graphics calculators at school is a terrible idea. IMO, students are already far too calculator dependent. We want you to be able to think about maths - not just be able to type into a calculator, and then blindly accept whatever it says as gospel.
