What points could you argue for either of these events in a question such as "Evaluate the significance of D Day and the liberation of France in bringing about the end of the conflict in Europe by 1945" or an equivalent for the counter offensives
Obviously you'd make the point that it ultimately weakened Germany, but I can't see how you could spend at least half an essay on this before you could move onto other factors like the air war.
