Ok so i know the fiscal stance is expansionary but can someone tell me or link me to info about arguements for and against this stance. as well as maybe the general economic criticism's of the budget.

The only thing i can think of is an increase in IR's as an arguement against.....

Please help im about to die here...seriously...

OH IR= interest rates... I was gonna ask what it had to do with industrial relations..

Unfortunately, it's not that simple for three reasons:
1) The RBA doesn't know how much of the tax cut5s will be saved rather than spent.
2) We don't know whether the planned surplus will be achieved.
3)The budget is only one factor among many.. you need to keep in mind the exchange rate, terms of trade, other overseas influences, and swings in local optimism and pessimism.

Ok, so that just makes things worse... It shouldn't be that bad mate, but if you have Dixon's textbooks it's in chapter 14.6. Which we won't do for a while yet... why is there so much pressure on you to know? I'll make a summarised version if you REALLY need it... but it's pretty obvious stuff

Lol, Without Wings (Flower guy, lol) has already been there and done that and given heaps of advice in all sorts of questions like this. That and she says everything I intend to say... but better... with more statistics (that are up to date as well :p). I dunno how she does it, but consider her the authority on the matter.

What she's written (In 11 mins somehow, lol) is pretty much almost an exact summary of the textbook... though Dixon has been notorious for skimpy detail.

Impact on the distribution of income.
The only thing that she didn't say (which she probably did somewhere...) is that it can have a mixed impact on the distribution of income. The 2006-07 budget is thought to have made the tax system less progressive as high income earners benefitted the most from changes to the income scale and to superannuation tax arrangements. The top two marginal tax rates were reduced by 2 cents in the dollar, whilst at the lower end of the tax scale, only changes to income tax thresholds were made. AS a result, it was predicted that an income of $150000 got a tax cut of $119 pw whilst someone on $50000 only got a $10 tax cut pw. (And yes, I realise that's last years budget... but as I said, I'm not through the HSC either, so I'll get there when I get there).
