1. Explain why it is important to maintain homeostasis
2. Using a named example explain why maintaining a constant internal environment is important
3. Propose two reasons why the maintenance of a constant internal environment is important for optimal metabolic efficiency in organisms
ANY 1 KNOW ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS. THEY'RE COMING UP IM MY EXAM AND I CANT FIND THE ANSWERS

this is like the first thing u learnt....
i hope u at least know something about them.

1. all metabolic processes require enzymes. enzymes function best at an optimum. therefore the maintenance of a constant internal environment is important to keep the conditions at optimum or close to optimum levels for enzymes to work best....basically something like that i guess

2. in humans for example, homeostasis is import to keep oxygen levels up for cells to use for respiration...or we'd basically die. not really sure if this is the correct answer lol

3. look at 1.

sorry i didn't really answer these very well lol, maybe someone else can

1. Cells in our body work within certain limits. These limits include temperature, pH, etc. For cells to survive and grow, we require a never ending series of chemical reactions. The speed and efficiency of these reactions depend on enzymes. Enzymes can speed up the rate of reaction without being used up themselves. However, in order for these reactions to continue, the enzymes must work within certain conditions. So regardless of what is happening to the external environment, homeostasis is the mechanism whereby our body maintains an internal constant.
