Changing my subjects ? (1 Viewer)

Hi guys, I am going into yr 11 next year 2016, and aim to get into Medicine with an atar of 99.95...

the subjects I have chosen are physics, chemistry, biology, advanced english and SOR1, 3 unit Maths

However, I am thinking of changing physics to business studies as I think it would be an alternative I would do alot better in the HSC plus I am already doing two others... And on top of this pickup of SOR 2

I don't know the type of assignments or exam structure or anything like that for business studies at all (Can someone please post the structure of exams and assessments for it ). At least I know if I study hard and memorise everything I can do really well.

With physics I feel like I will hate it, even though I am mathematically inclined. I also hear bio was the easiest science, and I like chemistry as well so I thought that I will drop physics out of all the 3 .

Th only issue is that I don't like writing heaps of essays, but if they are easy I guess I don't mind. I also have been doing commerce as an elective for the past 2 yrs and without a fail get above 95th percentile and that had heaps of really hard structured essay like exams...
Please tell me if I should stick to my subjects because I am just confused

Keep in mind that if you're aiming for 99.95 then subject scaling will be more important for you. If you come first in business in the state (which, so long as you're interested in the subject it is possible) I'm sure that won't matter but it is typically a weaker scaling subject. Especially in comparison to physics, which scales much better.

You don't pick subjects because they're easy, because you can underestimate how easy it is. You do it because you like it. That's the only push to take business.

As for the levels of SOR, that isn't profoundly impacting. It's ambiguous - some say SOR1 scales higher.

If you're mathematically inclined, maybe think about picking up X2 maths (especially as you're aiming for .95). And try to give physics a go in prelim at least, I have mad regrets for not trying it in yr 11 as it could have boosted my ATAR.

True, I will at least try it out for the first 4 weeks (before subject changing closes) and see how it goes . Regarding maths, I definitely want to do 4 unit ... so it makes sense just to stick with the subjects I have chosen.

Also remember that if you want 99.95 with HSC Business Studies, you'll need to state-rank or near-state-rank it.
