Hi.
Why do streamers form in cathode ray tubes with the highest pressure? I have asked different teachers, but they all say different things.
If the cathode ray tubes with the highest pressure have the most air particles in them, shouldn't there still be dark spaces because the electrons still need to accelerate and gain sufficient kinetic energy to excite the surrounding air particles to produce light? If that is true, that would mean that streamers shouldn't form and light bands and dark spaces should form.
