State which and where you work.

I hate my cash-in-hand fish and chip job and i want out! Just curious to know what pays the legal wage.. boy does it suck being exploited.

*cough*

Cash in hand, Chicken/Fish/Chip shop, roughly $7.50 an hour ($30 a night), 17 years old.

I work at Big W and earn just over $10/hr. (17 years old).

I think $7.50 is a bit low for a 17 year old, though I'm not sure of the legal minimum wage. (I'd expect it to be around $8.60 to $9.30/hr)

Yeah i know :(.. My boss claims that she can't afford to pay me more, hence the search for a new job. The only good thing about working there is that i can work whenever i want, at the drop of a hat.

Plus, i get along with the customers well, it's rewarding in that sense. But time is money!

yeah i suppose some of the benefits, are that you're not paying tax, but at 17 you would get it all b ack anyway even if you were paying it

Also, if you are being paid cash in hand and the business goes bust or somethin, chances are you arent goin to get your unpaid wages because you're probably not on any type of payroll

I think you even make more than what you are at maccas for a 17 year old

I mean, cash is great if you are on youth allowance or have a second job etc, but you would be better off on a "on the books" job. I've never had a cash job, I don't think there are many places in the CBD that pay cash. If anyone knows any who are looking for staff let me know lol.

I'm F&B (Food and Beverage) staff at Parliament. I get taxed, I'm a casual and I'm getting almost $14/hour (I'm 18.) It does me just fine.

I'm looking for an "on the books" job.. and yeah, as a 17y.o you do get all the tax back. Plus, the rates are alot higher and you get paid double time or time and a half etc... something that i'm deprived of.

I think i'm being exploited to the max.

I just learnt if you're playing ebay the way you are 7th sign, you need an ABN and have to pay income tax. BTW, how much do you make a wk?
