Can you do harder 3 unit with only 3 unit knowledge? (1 Viewer)

I was issued a bunch of harder 3 unit questions from the hsc papers, but I am finding them to be extremely difficult. Do I need to go over some prior theory?

Technically speaking, yes.

However realistically for most students, it's not doable without the guidance of a teacher who understands Harder 3U very well.

There quite a bit of extra theory you need to learn that again technically you can deduce from 3U knowledge purely, but it's not easy to do so yourself.

Classic example is Strong Induction. In 3U, you learn three types. Series, Divisibility and Inequality problems. In Harder 3U, the idea of Strong Induction is introduced.

Just a couple of question for the expert: Although I talk of Strong Induction, I haven't seen a question that requires an assumption involving more than 2 or three values. SO:
(1) Is there a name for that other than something like "a weakened form of strong induction"?
(2) Do you know of any questions relevant to HS maths where it is essential to make the fully-fledged assumption?
