English Advanved: 78/100
English Extension 1: 39/50
English Extension 2: 30/50
Modern History: 69/100
Ancient History: 75/100
Legal Studies: 77/100

UAI score: 56

WTF? I'm confused and panicky. I mean my lowest HSC score is still well above my overall UAI. Please respond!

Percentiles are not great.

In 2007 it would have been <25 in EE2, 27 in Modern, 42 in EE1, 44 in Advanced, 52 in Ancient, 53 in Legal.

Your ranks would've scaled lowly as you're not in the top half for most of them

your marks dont matter. UAI is a rank. When your marks are scaled against all the students in NSW, they are pretty average and thats why you got an average UAI

I agree that this seems a bit suspicious.

Even with very conservative estimates of your scaled marks, I calculated a UAI in the low 60s. I used the 2008 statistics.

I'm currently working on a new version of SAM so I will investigate this further in a couple of days.

Are you hoping for an offer in the main round on 21 Jan 2009?

You could also try calling the UAI Enquiry Centre - (02) 8736 5900. It's only open for today and tomorrow, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. There is a very small chance they might look into it for you as well.

In terms of your UAI, the reason it is lower than you expected is because you're basically below state average for most of your subjects.

The STATE AVERAGE marks for your subjects in 2008 are:
English Advanved: 79.4/100 (you are 1.4 below)
English Extension 1: 40.1/50 (you are 1.1 below)
English Extension 2: 40.4/50 (you are 10.4 below)
Modern History: 76.2/100 (you are 7.2 below)
Ancient History: 72.8/100 (you are 2.2 above)
Legal Studies: 75.8/100 (you are 1.2 above)

Assuming you took 10 units, all of them counted. I'd imagine Modern History and English Extension 2 would have pulled the aggregate down a fair bit.

Yay new SAM to play with, please fix the 2005 mark as it is capped at 99.50 right now for some reason :S

And i agree with the above; it seems like a reasonable UAI to me with those marks.

Um...the state average was 40.4/50 and the OP got 30/50, which gives a 10.4 mark difference.
