my adv teacher's checking our homework tomorrow and ngl, since i do ex2 i havent done any of our homework.
in my defence though, we're doing stuff which is completely unrelated to ex1 or ex2 so i don't see the need to do it.
anyways, any ext 2 students been through this too? what did you do?

Maybe just explain to them and they’ll understand

genuinely what do teachers get with forcing people to do homework? like if someone doesn't care about school work just let them fail.

have you ever worked a job
nope. nor is that relevant to my statement.

Teachers only force kids to do school work to make them look like they are doing something. In reality, people probably don't do the course work they set, probably cause it's just a waste of precious time and wont benefit them with HSC preparation (i.e. it is useless). Alternatively, as I originally stated, they lack motivation and care for academics and school - they wont do school work regardless.

My chemistry and bio teacher keeps setting stupid arts and crafts stuff. Not even joking, they made us cut pieces of paper and build 3d models of DNA polymerase with paper, pom poms, glue, sticky tape, colorings pencils, paddle pop sticks. It's as if we're in primary school lmfao. Meanwhile, we could've been spending time learning example questions or revisiting concepts to consolidate knowledge as a class. This is why I have an attendance rate of 30% in chem or bio lol 🤣

it shows. mfw i live and breathe the word relevance and i get told a question that is at the core of relevance is not relevant lol.

let me make it clear for you. 'what do teachers get with forcing people to do homework' - a job is a contractual arrangement in which, inter alia, an individual performs personal services ('the employee') in exchange for remuneration, generally in the form of monetary compensation for another individual ('the employer'). as it is a contractual arrangement, you have a legal obligation to perform the requirements of the position in accordance with the contract insofar as you are accepting that money and until such time as the contract is discharged. the core of the job responsibilities of a teacher lie in providing an education and involving homework, which is a mandatory obligation upon the child, in the form of being imposed upon their parents as the child is under 18 and does not yet have separate legal personality in general. the teacher, if they would like to maintain their job, is obligated to 'force' students to do their homework, as it is part of the responsibilities of said job. even if the teacher does not personally care whether or not the homework is done, most people like receiving an income to maintain their housing and other needs, so the best course would be for them to employ their best endeavours to compel the student to complete their homework.

for ease of reference, i include some directly analogous hypothetical statements for your benefit below:
'what do police get from forcing people to follow the law. if criminals want to do crime just let them'
'what do doctors get from saving people after attempted suicide. if people want to die just let them'
'what do parole officers get from forcing people to follow parole conditions. if people want to go back to jail just let them'

whilst i understand that responsibility may not be a concept you are particularly familiar with, you will note that the above examples all involve employment arrangements where a person is required to perform a particular action or duty compelling a third party to do some act or thing, often against their will.

clearly attendance at class is important to some degree, or you end up with people leaving high school without a basic understanding of the main contractual and social arrangement underpinning society and providing individuals the means to live.
