A hot air balloon is descending at a rate of 5m/s whilst it is carried away eastward by the wind at a rate of 7m/s. In order that they do not crash, the pilot released a sandbag, causing the balloon to ascend 0.5m/s upward. Unfortunately this was not enough, and the balloon ended up crashing on the ground. What was the final speed and direction of the balloon as it hit the ground?

Apparantly this was a real question even thought NO TIME or HEIGHT is given, how do I solve this?
