Hi everyone,

Subject selections are due very soon for year 12 and i'm still
unsure of whether to drop business or economics.
I enjoy both subjects and my ranks are as follows:
Business : =1st
Economics: 2nd

Just wondering if you guys could offer me any advice or anything

Cheers.

Why would you want to drop a subject you are coming first and second in? Keep both of them.

well im on 13 units at the moment, and i don't want
to take that many into year 12

so its either between
pe -1st
bus -=1st
or ecos- 2nd

and i really enjoy pe so i've decided to keep that
and i just have to decide between business and economics,

yet im a bit worried about how business scales ..

Incorrect - scaling is always relevant in regards to UAI/ATAR calculations.

Out of the 3 subjects, drop the one you hate the most.

If you can't decide, drop PE because the scaling is the worst out of three.

Oh okay so you're telling me that if my school is in the top 50 in the state or whatever, and im ranked top 2, and i do extremely well in the external im going to be pulled back because business scales badly, give me a break.

It does scale similar, but business scales slightly higher. But seriously, try and keep the subjects that you like the most because you're bound to do better in them.

Yes, that is correct. For eg, if you scored 100 for your overall subject mark of 100, the scaled mark used to calculate your ATAR would only be around 91 because of the scaling. However, if you got an overall assessment mark of say 98 in 2U maths then the scaled mark would be 94. You see the difference?

However, scaling has less on effect if you do extremely well.

You seem to have no idea of how the process works. Stop trying to give advice, when you have no idea what you're talking about.

You are so lost, as Aerath said >.>

Use the search function on this site to look up threads, i can't be bothered finding them for you. Also, take a look at the A3 Table.

No i'm not; both PE and Business are capped. But business is capped at a higher mark than PE.

It means that even if you cannot get a 100 as a scaled mark if a subject is capped.
+1, Nearly all the humanities are capped, Biology is capped and many other 'easier' subjects. Its also due to the amount of people who sit the exam.

Why would you drop ECO if ur 2nd? as wouldnt you rather get a 90+ in eco than a 90+ in business?? :D
