The 550 and 545 buses go from parra to the macquarie. It takes approx 30mins but it depends on which bus you catch because each has a different route.

north shore line theres a bus from chatswood 545 or a 560 from gordon (i think theres one from linfield too). traffic around north ryde is terrible from about 7:30 to 9:30 and 4:30 to about 6:30 in the evenings, so transport times vary wildly

I live around that area to
I thought you would have already caught public transport to macq by now :p

bus from parra takes roughly 50-60 minutes to
to macq

and it also takes a while to get to parra (40 mins by bus), and ive also heard that the bus at parra doesnt come too often (couldnt be bothered traveling sooo far to actually test it myself, but my friend has :) )

So, just catch a train from canleyvale/cab to straithfield
change lines to epping
then a bus from epping station to macquarie uni

In total, it should take around 1 hour and 20 minutes, longer if you dont live near cab/fairfield stations :( :( :(

Be wary of current train delays too...

Unfortunately... this will be a daily routine for me too :)
happy happy

ah i used to catch a bus from uni to qvb, i forget its number, it took about 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours.

it broke down one day on epping road, some other bus picked us up. weak story i know, but ive never been on or heard of a bus breaking down.
