I'm in Year 10 at the moment and I chose the following subjects for Yr 11:

3 Adv English + Ext
3 Adv Maths +Ext
2 Physics
2 Software Design and Development
2 IT VET

However, since I had two ext's our school's head teacher informed me that I now need a total of 14 units and she also told me that vetIT wasn't running which resulted in my subjects becoming this:

3 Adv English + Ext
3 Adv Maths +Ext
2 Physics
2 Software Design and Development
2 Biology
2 Society and Culture

My questions are as follows:

1. Can I drop two subjects ('Biology' and 'Society and Culture') at Yr 12?

2. Is it true that 30% of Yr 11's mark contributes to your ATAR from next year onward? (I heard this from my English Tutor)

3. Is vetIT really not running next year?

1. Yes, because that'll make 10 units which is the minimum required
2. No, only year 12 counts
3. Don't know.

1) you can drop two of your subjects-because the minimum amount of unit you need to do for the HSC is 10 units, but it is not recommended-it is very risky since you will have no back up units to rely upon -only do this if you are very confident with your 10 units when your HSC comes around
2)No, I don't think so, although up to 30% of knowledge, i.e. in maths-preliminary may be examined-particularly in your first maths exams, no year 11 marks contributes to your ATAR, only your result from year 12- contribute to your ATAR-ask your teacher rather than your tutor-unless your tutor is a teacher of course
3) not sure, I think you should ask your school teacher or TAFE for the most accurate answer or you can search it up on the internet

2) No way. You need the skills, but the actual marks mean nothing at all.
3) The subject will run for HSC next year, but your school doesn't run it. I know mine will host it next year though.
