Hi
So i have been planning on doing a Bachelor of Biotechnology at University of Newcastle for a while. I want to get into molecular biology, specifically using genetics to treat diseases in a medical context. I thought Biotech was right for me as it seemed to involve the applications of genetics, but I'm now realizing after a bit of extra reading (I had done my research, I just stumbled across some new info) that maybe a Bachelor of Biomedical is better suited? The general opinion seems to be that Biotech COULD lead into medical advancements, but it is strongly linked to industry, which is not really where I want to go.
Opinions? My main focus is I want to cure disease, and be involved in genetics and molecular biology. Which degree should I do? I got an ATAR of 96.20 so I can get into either.
I was pretty confident in biotech but I'm having a last-minute second thoughts!!
