Band/Orchestra without entry requirements? (1 Viewer)

Just wondering if there was a concert band or orchestra at melbourne uni that doesn't require you to have done 7th or 8th grade AMEB or a mus to get into?
I am about grade 5 on my alto saxophone and doing arts at melbourne and would love to keep playing by joining a band or something, just recreationally, but all i can find is group upon group for VCA students who have to audition to get in!

Anyone know whether there is one/where i can find info?

I realise this reply is really late, but
have you checked out the EMS? It stands for Engineering Music Society but don't be fooled by the name; it's not exclusive at all. They have a lot of fun. Last year it was $10 to join and they have regular concerts/hangouts/camps etc.
