To all those students freaking out about getting into medicine, I highly recommend you think about putting this course down as a preference if you fail to get the 99.9999 scores required.

It's similar to medicine in that you learn anatomy, pathology, biology and everything in between, and you get to work in the medical field.
You just take xrays/ct/ultrasounds/mri, and don't even have to break tragic news to patients who are ill (that's the doctors job!)

There's a bit of physics involved to learn about radiation etc. but high school physics should help you manage easily

There are plenty of jobs available all over the world, and best of all, no umat is required!

Pfft, you can get into med with a UAI as low as 93 or 95 in many schools!

I think your not the best person to pass judgement on this since your a freshman at uni.

Also i've done plenty of work experience with radiography, i got bored sh8tless.

No offence bregitta, but I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. After you pass the honeymoon stage of year 1, you will realize how tragically boring and unfufilling radiography is. And the Monash course doesn't help by forcing you to do a research assignment in 4th year, when you can go to RMIT and graduate a year early.
The Monash radiography course is simply a springboard for all med rejects. How do I know this? Because I am one myself. And I am in 4th year BRadMedImag at Monash. This year, about a third of the class rocked up to the GAMSAT.

Hah yeh terrible advice - hang around for more than a year and you'll get bored shatless, plus end up copping it from radiologists. Now there's a decent career.

Why would you waste four years of your life doing a course you're really not interested in though? If you really really wanted to get into med, I'm sure there's interstate places that aren't as picky as Monash and Melbourne. I agree the fourth year is a bit of a waste, but you don't have to do an entire year on intern wages afterwards and it prepares those that want to specialise in ultrasound.
