Assumed Math level for Econ111 and Econ110? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, Doing the Bachelor of Commerce and Taken those two this year, Do i need 2unit maths for them, I've done general maths at school and will be majoring in Accounting?

From memory, the most you'll need in ECON110 is algebra. In ECON111 they will often explain concepts using calculus (covered in 2 unit maths) - but they should also explain those concepts using economic principles. So you don't need to have done 2 unit maths for those subjects, it might just come in handy for a few things here and there.

I did it at UWS and there was a basic maths skills test u had to do b4 enrolling in the course.

It was pretty easy, I think a general maths kid with half a brain could do it.

The recommended maths for ECON111 and ECON110 is 2 Unit HSC maths, even though you wont do anything even close to the complex problems in 2 unit maths syllabus.

They just want you to be fully prepared i guess.

It's not Sydney uni so you don't really need much maths in these subjects, for ECON110 you need algebra but ECON111 is essays...

from what my friend has told me, the Sydney university introductory economics courses seem similar to those at Macquarie University.

ECON110 is a little algebra, ECON111 is yeah pretty much writing essays and understanding graphs.
