Well I've check all the past HSC papers and the 3 unit exam lacks things like quartic polynomials and trig graphs. Does this mean they won't be tested?

No. The Extension 1 exam can examine anything from the 2 unit course. It's just that in such a limited 2 hour exam you usually find topics more exclusive to Extension 1 rather than harder 2 unit topics.

Quartic Polynomials can be tested, but I highly doubt it will - and if it was, I think it wouldn't be in the early questions. As for trig graphs, you may need to use trig graphs directly to solve a question.

In my opinion for Harder 2U - you'd be most likely to get a hard curve sketching question or a financial series and sequences question.

They hardly ask loan repayment questions in 3unit. Didn't even bother to do the homework on them.

3 unit is less predictable than the 4 unit
In 2009, they didn't have any permutations or combinations!!!

Yeah they did. Wasn't it like...Question 6 or something? The 'different amounts of dots' or something.

To answer OP's question - nope, all of 2U is examinable in 3U. However, chances are small, but then again, why risk it?

Edit: Question 6b. But it was relatively simple, compared to past Perms and Combs questions. Thank god. :p

You will rarely ever see Sequences and Series or lower level probability... the exam tries to focus on the 3U topics since it's a very crammed 2 hour exam.

3 unit exams should be longer, and they should shorten the 2 unit exam

More time so you can check answers and the questions are longer styling.

Nah, I think the length of the Ext 1 paper is good. It's a nice "novice separator".

Also, I don't think the length of the 2U paper should be shortened only because in other 2U subjects like Physics you get a ridiculous amount of time IMO.

I mean, I deliberately took my time and finished the 2009 Physics HSC paper in 2 hours. Of course I did check over my work etc...

But my point is that in 2U the average student probably wont get an extra hour to check over their work. I certainly wouldn't I don't think, although this is hard to say since I've never done a 2U HSC Maths paper in exam conditions.
