I just purchased Essential Mathematics for Preliminary Ext 1 by Terry Lee and realised that it excludes 5 chapters:

Basic Arithmetic and Algebra
Plane Geometry
The quadratic Polynomial
Parametric equations
Circle geometry

Are these topics really important for Year 11? Should I return this and buy another textbook that includes all these topics (I was thinking of Fitzpatrick - is it better)?

Thanks for the help :)

Parametric equations and circle geometry are important parts of preliminary maths. The other 3, you should already have a deep understanding from junior years.

Your school will provide you with textbooks, won't they? Schools usually provide Maths in Focus, Fitzpatrick or Cambridge. In my opinion, I think the school textbook is enough (though I'm in no position to say as I had tutoring).

A lot of people on BOS tend to recommend Cambridge for 3U.

It's up to you.
