I actually think they are just raw marks. I highly doubt the Board of Studies would actually take the time to align them, with the HSC going on and stuff. You guys receive your SC results before the HSC results are released, so they take less than a month to complete in marking plus printing out the certificates etc. Also, I knew I got 2 multiple choice questions wrong in Mathematics when I checked the solutions online, I ended up with 98 so that's why I think they are just raw marks.
Anyway, that's what I think. Can someone provide some official textual evidence about this?

Hmm... I've always wondered this too.. But at my school I found the trials much easier than the school certificate for maths and almost everybody went better in the SC... I think they're scaled

The SC is scalled and probably even your school exam marks on your reports are scalled as well.

With HSC scaling is it a +/- or a multiply scaling. Eg a scaling of +6 and you got 80. Would your mark be 86 or 84.8?

It can be either +ve or -ve depending on the course and mark and overall performance

Yeh but how do they do it, eg. if the scaling is +6 do they just give you 6 more marks or do they give you 6% extra on top of what you got?

They add a bit extra marks, pending on what you achieve, say you get 95, they give u 97 0r 98

they divide ur raw marks by 2 and then add 50...eg: u get 80 in exam raw marks...divide 2=40, then add 50, then =90...therefore u get 10 extra marks...eva wondered why no-one has ever gotten below 50??

You can't fail the SC no matter what, unless you did not sit the test
