OK. So we're not getting any new members who are latin students. So, in a bid to make Latin more accessible to the general public, here are some ready-made Latin phrases for use in real life.

Tibi gratias agimus quod nihil fumas.
Thankyou for not smoking.

Ne auderis delere orbem rigidum meum!
Don't you dare erase my hard disk!

Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
I have a catapult. Give me all the money, or I shall fling an enormous rock at your head.

Amicule, delicae, num is sum qui mentiar tibi?
Baby, sweetheart, would I lie to you?

Hoc non manus sed pes est.
This isn't a hand, it's a foot.

Fautores ludi glacialis borei feri meri sunt.
Hockey fans are real animals.

In thermulas intremus!
Let's get into the hot tub!

Sentio aliquos to togatos contra me conspirare.
I think some people in togas are plotting against me.

Licetne tibi mihi dare tuam subscriptionem?
Can I have your autograph?

Machina improba! Vel mihi ede potum vel mihi redde nummos meos!
You infernal machine! Give me a beverage or give me back my money!

Nevtiquam erro.
I am NOT LOST!!

Arbitror eam de planeta alia venisse.
I think she's from another planet.

Latin does have relevance to life and existence. Latin IS life and existence...

*swings crystal back and forth...*

see ... latin isnt so hard after all ... now you can walk around the streets and speak latin to a passer-by (ignore the fact that they wont have the slightest clue what your uttering, or that they will think you are insane) ... just tell them that you are speaking the language of tommorrow (or was that yesterday) ... either way ... the latin revival is here ...

i reckon the hardest thing about chinese is writing the characters ... english has 26 letters ... chinese has several hundred commonly used characters and many more thousands of characters ... but i guess if you learn it, like people learn english in australia, it would be pretty easy ...

but i guess the pronounciation of mandarin is like english ... cantonese pronounciation is difficult to learn unless its your native tongue ...

i guess the characters are being simplified ... so thats a start ... but some of the simplification just looks terrible ...
