can anyone tell wats in the sc trial..?!
is the long response going to be short story again?
any thing to be aware on the multiple choices and short answer..
personally i think my english is not great..
do i need to know about the language techniques?

There will be a comprehension section/MC which is fairly hard if my school set it or like last year basically every school did the same English paper. Most likely a creative writing (short story) and also like a letter to the editor or something along those lines.

Well you should read over your language and visual techniques and understand the conventions of different text types such as an Editorial. The test comprises of multiple choice, short questions based on an analytical text and an extended piece of writing. I don't know how many minutes though.

Hey everybody.

Last Friday I had my 'Trials' for my 'Trial School Certificate'.

The question was along the lines of:

Write a short story, beginning with the sentence:

"The high wall and iron gate protected the house"

~~~

I'd like to know some tips and secrets to good short stories / English extended response. It would really help.
Any advice / tips / suggestions is very much appreciated.

No trial exams are not similar in every school. The questions are usually different and might not be the identical text type. Some schools have easier test while others have harder ones. The School Certificate is the only test that breaks down the discrepancies between marks because its uniform and can be used to compare it with others in NSW with the exception to the HSC, SNAP/ELLA and etc.

but our teacher actually said that the test is paper from the board of studies..
the teacher didnt write the paper..
so thats mean the board of studies have numbers of so-called "trial paper"?

In this case, your trial papers will be previous School Certificate exams. Why not get a head start and look over each test paper from 2004?

From this year onwards the English SC will have a stimulus booklet attached. The 2009 mock-up test, is the format the exam would be in, it has the 2008 questions.

i just found out that this came up in the 2008 school centificate.
