Hi I have an exam coming up and for the reading section we were told that the texts are on advertisements (what we studied last term).

Can someone explain to me the differences between values and attitudes regarding advertisements?? I think values is what is expected in society and it is what people deem acceptable (e.g wealth, happiness, beauty etc) but I don't understand what attitudes is entirely (to do with ads). Please help !!!!!!

Thanks :)

I'd say attitudes is the way we act / express ourselves/ behave towards a certain event/object/add etc whilst values tend to be the beliefs/views that society etc holds to be true.

E.g Society may hold the view point that 'Women are responsible for housework' this would be shown in an add through women cleaning. This would show the value of society being depicted.

For attitudes, this would be the response (behavior/action) as a result add. For example, one may feel inclined to buy something after seeing the add.
