What are some impure products that could be obtained during the acetylation of ferrocene.
This is a very brief method:
-Ferrocene and acetic anhydride in rb flask and stir.
-Add dropwise 85% phosphoric acid
- Protect the reaction mixture with a calcium chloride drying tube
- Heat on a steam bath
- Transfer the reaction mixture onto crushed ice.
- When melted, neutralise with 50% aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate
- Cool then collect the precipitate
Need 3 organic-based compounds that could be present.
